The tools and materials are just not available, so why have a modchip? It'd be cheaper to just buy the damn games (up to a point). While it's feasible for any normal person to burn a DVD, it's NOT feasible for any normal person to grab a 3DS game cart and program it.

We made the decision early on that the homebrew launcher should only work with a highly relocatable executable format as a way to improve compatibility with potential future exploits (such as ironhax and tubehax), which may or may not include the ability to update virtual memory page permissions. When booting the card, you can switch between the two firmwares, so if you get that pesky homebrew that doesn't work in Sakura, you can boot up Touchpod to use it.

However, there is no release date or price stated for the DSi/DSi XL, yet, but it appears to be the same date as the custom edition Wii. The Nintendo DSi XL is larger than the 3DS XL. It sure makes loading homebrew from the SD slot a lot less of a painful experience.

I wonder if there’s a HomeBrew channel for the DSi like there is for the Wii. Be careful if you do decide to hack your DSi XL, though, as you run the risk of breaking it and voiding your warranty.
